Wisconsin
I was born in Wisconsin, an unlikely location for anyone
interested in rap. However, music and art are located
and developed within your soul and within your very
being, not in your place of birth. My childhood was
surrounded by the deaths of many family members and
friends. Lack of finances consistently caused tension
within my household. A mental illness plagued my dad
and caused spontaneous rage, and sometimes violent rage
to hurl me into states of fear. My desire and inability
to find a girl in my life caused me distress and sadness.
That mixed with the death I faced, at times, pushed
me over the edge. However, my belief in God pulled me
back out of the depths.
It wasn't until later in my life that I fully discovered
rap. Halfway through High School I began constructing
my own lyrics. Writing slowly took over my life, and
I spent every moment in and out of school writing lyrics
in notebooks. Upon exiting High School, I heightened
my awareness of rap structure and terminology to make
use of. I began reading and studying and including my
findings within my lyrics, combining it with what had
already filled my notebook pages: many songs filled
with rage, sadness, and distress. These dark themes
may seem to be too much and too often for some, but
for me, they're home.
I had created 2 demos before my most recent cd. Both
I consider to be complete failures, but they were necessary
for me to progress. After dwelling on the failures of
the demos I had created, I set forth on making Uninhibited,
my first cd. It is now completed and is my best achievement
thus far, but even with this, I have a long way to go
before reaching my true style. However, the one thing
that has always remained consistent and has always made
me strive has been my lyrics. For my next cd, I plan
to improve every aspect of my art, from my delivery
on the mic, to the beats I choose, to the content and
themes that I rap about, to the lyrics, which are already
my favorite aspect of what I do. Until then, I continue
to write in order to express the endless thoughts and
ideas contained inside.
