Young
Solo enters the hip hop scene as a native of Orange,
California who moved to the East Coast at an early age.
Now a representative of Buxton, Maine, Solo is a poet-turned-emcee
who has been writing rhymes since the age of eleven.
Currently in the studio crafting his debut EP under
the working title The Truth Hurts, Young Solo's music
reflects his values and beliefs.
Bored with mainstream hip hop's obsession with flossing
about money, jewelry, and women, Solo chooses to write
songs that more accurately reflect the reality of life
as he sees it. Whether his songs are personal in nature,
or depictions of the world he witnesses, Young Solo
feels that it's important for music to accurately portray
society, so that the values of listeners aren't corrupted
by distortions emcees put in their rhymes.
His views on the direction of hip hop, and his ability
to stand alone lyrically at such a young age, he is
currently sixteen, lead Shane Reisinger to choose the
name Young Solo. Young Solo gives his parents and extended
family credit for keeping him grounded and supporting
his decision to pursue his musical career at such an
early age. Having already rocked the stage of
Maine's annual Iron Mic MC Battle, he has secured a
gig at the upcoming Freestyle $500 MC Battle as well.
With the support of his family and Mainehiphop.com founder
and studio owner Braden Biddings, Young Solo has been
able to refine his craft, becoming one of the most promising
rising stars in the New England hip hop scene today.
Creating music influenced by artists with styles as
diverse as 2pac, Black Thought, Jay-Z, and Kanye West,
Solo will surely be making waves in
underground scene soon. However, considering his talent,
youth, and determination it is likely that Young Solo
will not be content to be merely a local hip hop hero,
but will work hard to spread his positive and
realistic messages to as many listeners as he can...
